Maggie Riden Provides Comment in Washington Post Article about the CYITC

DCAYA Executive Director, Maggie Riden provided a statement to the Washington Post on the new direction of the Children and Youth Investment Trust Corp. 

"Until there's a change in the leadership structure so there's a clear division between public and private," she said, "we're not going to see private funders come back to the table."

Policy Analyst Anne Abbot Quoted in Post Blog about the Withdrawal of WIC Grants

After a two year battle over youth job training grants headed by the Workforce Investment Council, the grants were awarded to three non-profits championed for providing youth with quality programming. Executive Director Maggie Riden Speaks with WAMU about DC Summer Youth Programs

Maggie Riden was interviewed by Kavitha Cardoza of WAMU 85.5 about the changes occurring in DC's summer youth programs and the progress still to come. A year ago, with the help of DCAYA, WAMU brought awareness to the disorganization of DC summer youth programs Riden explains, "No agency was tracking that information in a consistent format, or collecting or keeping that information,". Through collaboration with city entities and service providers, many changes were made to provide youth with quality summer programming, however, there is still more work to be done. The February 17th edition of the Washington Times featured an article on new education legislation put forward by the DC City Council on The College Preparation Plan Act of 2012 and the Early Warning System Act of 2012.
